Ingredients :
3/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 cup plain flour
1/4 cornstarch
1 1/2 cups water
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups cooking oil
Method :
Heat up a dry pan to toast the sesame
seeds. Remove from heat and mix with the powdered sugar. Set aside. Use
a bowl to mix the plain flour with the granulated sugar. Stir in 1/2 cup
of water. Mix in the beaten eggs until smooth.
Bring a saucepan to boil with 1 cup of
water. Add the flour mixture and stir briskly over medium heat until it
thickens. Stir in the vanilla. Using an 8 inch square dish, pour in the
mixture to half inch thick. Pat with your hand. Set to cool in the
refrigerator.
Cut into 1.5 inches long strips and half
inch wide. Coat the cut strips with the cornstarch. Heat a pan with the
oil to moderate heat and fry the strips for about 3 minutes or until
light brown. Do not fry too many at a time. Once browned, remove to
serving plate. Sprinkle with the sesame seed mixture and serve hot. |
