Method :
Stand the unopened tin of condensed milk in a saucepan of simmering water
and simmer for 1.5 hours, topping up with boiling water as necessary.
Carefully remove from the heat, leave to cool for 10 minutes, then open
the can. Melt the butter or margarine and mix in the sugar and biscuit
(cookie) crumbs. Press into the base of a greased 20 cm/8 in cake tin
(pan). Spread the sliced banana over the base and pour on the condensed
milk, which will have turned to a toffee consistency. Spread the whipped
cream over the top. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Note:
Caramelized cans of condensed milk will last a long time, so you can boil
several cans at the same time and store them in the cupboard. Make sure
you mark the cans with indelible pen as the labels will come off during
boiling. |
