Ingredients :
500 g minced beef
50 g glass noodles
2 slices bread, cut into 1 cm cubes,
soaked in hot water and squeezed
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon sweet soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon powdered nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
Sauce :
1 tablespoon margarine
1 clove garlic, sliced finely
4 shallots, sliced finely
150 cc stock
2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
1 tablespoon tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon powdered nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cornflour, mixed with a
little water
Method :
Cut the glass noodles into 10 cm lengths,
soaked until tender, drain and set aside. Combine the minced beef with
other ingredients and mix well. Clean a milk can and cover with banana
leaf up to 2 cm from the top. Fill the can with the beef mixture and
steam until cooked. Remove from the steamer and set aside to cool. When
cooled, remove the beef from the mould and fry with the margarine. Slice
into 1 cm thick pieces and serve with sauce and boiled vegetables. To
make the sauce, heat margarine and fry the garlic and shallots until
soft, then pour in the stock. Add the other ingredients, stirring in
cornflour last, to thicken the sauce.
